The Store

A Calgary store,
with Calgary roots.

Thomas Jeffery has been part of Calgary's menswear scene since 1968. The store carries the names of two sons from one of its earlier owners, Thomas and Jeffery. Today it is family-owned, family-run, and answerable to the city it has served for over half a century.

What that means in practice is straightforward. We carry the brands we believe in. We fit every piece in-store. We don't sell what we wouldn't wear ourselves. And the people who walk you through a fitting are usually the same ones you will see next time, often for years.

Thomas Jeffery has passed through a few hands over the decades. The current owner, Len Hamm, bought the store from Ken McCowan, who ran it before him. The store kept the name, kept the location in Calgary, and kept building on what came before.

For most of the store's history, Calgary saw Thomas Jeffery in more than one place. A long-standing presence at Southcentre Mall, and a second location downtown. In 2022, both consolidated into a single larger home at Kingsland Village. One store, more space under one roof, the same people behind the counter.

What We Do

A different kind
of menswear store.

There are bigger stores and there are flashier stores. We are neither. Here is what we are instead.

01 Personal, Not Transactional

We are not a chain. Every fitting happens with one staff member from start to finish. They learn your taste, your build, and what you actually wear. Next time you come in, you don't start over.

02 Honest Opinions

If a piece isn't right for you, we will tell you. If you don't need three suits, we won't sell you three. The point isn't to move stock. The point is that you walk out with something you will actually wear.

03 Tailoring In-House

Our tailors work on the same schedule we do, in the same building. Alterations are not subcontracted out or shipped across town. Nothing leaves the store until it fits the way it should.

04 Brands We Believe In

We don't carry a label because it pays for shelf space. Every brand on the floor earned its place because the construction holds up, the fit works for our customers, or it does something specific better than anyone else.

The People

The Thomas Jeffery team is part of what the store is. Many of them have been here for decades, learning the craft from the people who came before them and now passing it on themselves. They are experienced menswear professionals: the kind of people who can read a shoulder seam from across the room, and who, more often than you would expect, remember what you bought the last time you came in.

Come in and meet them. They are the ones fitting you, picking the right shirt for the right suit, and telling you honestly when a piece works and when it doesn't. That part has not changed in over fifty years.
